If your church worships in Cebuano, you no longer have to put English on the screen and translate from the pulpit. Ang Biblia (Cebuano, 1917) is now in the ChristChant Bible store, free for every church.
Kay gihigugma sa Dios ang kalibutan, sa pagkaagi nga gihatag niya ang iyang Anak nga bugtong, aron ang tanan nga motoo kaniya dili mawala, kondili may kinabuhi nga walay katapusan.
Juan 3:16
The Bible many Visayan churches grew up with
The 1917 Ang Biblia was the first complete Bible in Cebuano. For generations it has been read in churches across the Visayas and Mindanao, and many older members still know its verses by heart.
ChristChant carries the Bugna edition: the whole Bible, Old and New Testament, exactly as it was published in 1917. Because the text is more than a hundred years old, it is in the public domain, so we can offer it free, with no licence fee passed on to your church.
The wording is the older Cebuano your grandparents read: Jehova for the Lord, kong for "if", and the long, careful sentences of the original translators. If your congregation uses a newer Cebuano translation, keep using it alongside this one.
Get it in under a minute
- Click Marketplace in the header and choose Bibles.
- Find Ang Biblia (Cebuano, 1917) and click Get. Sign in if asked.
- It downloads once and works offline from then on, even if the church Wi-Fi drops in the middle of the sermon.
You can also click Get more Bibles under the translation list in the Scriptures tab.
Cebuano and English side by side
Many Visayan congregations mix languages in one service: a Cebuano reading, an English sermon, a Tagalog song. ChristChant handles that.
- Switch the main translation by clicking its name next to the search box in the Scriptures tab.
- Compare versions puts the King James Version, or the Tagalog Ang Dating Biblia, next to the Cebuano so the preacher can check a verse before it goes live.
- Pinned Bibles keeps the versions you use most one click away.
The step-by-step guide is here: Switch, compare and add Bible translations.
Help us keep it accurate
The text came from a typed-up copy of the 1917 printing. We checked every one of its 31,102 verses for stray marks, and fixed the slips we found, but a few spelling mistakes may still be in there. If you spot one, tell us through the help centre with the book, chapter and verse, and we will correct it for every church.
Download ChristChant and put the Word on screen in the language your people pray in.
