Blend projectors into one big screen

Join two, three or four projectors into one seamless wide picture with Edge blend: a four-step setup, then test patterns to line them up perfectly.

A wide wall at the front of the church is often lit by two or more projectors side by side. Where their pictures meet, they overlap on a strip of wall. Edge blend fades each projector out across that strip so the join disappears, and the wall shows one wide picture.

Watch: Blend projectors into one big screen (about 2 minutes)

Set it up

  1. Click Venue in the header, click any screen, then Advanced settings. Under Walls, choose Edge blend.
  2. Layout: pick the arrangement that looks like your room: 2 side by side, 3 side by side, 2 stacked or 4 in a square.
The drawing underneath shows the wall you'll get and the shared strip in the middle.
  1. Screens: for each box, choose the screen whose projector is in that spot. The boxes are laid out like the projectors on your wall.
Match each box to the projector in that position.
  1. Overlap: how much the pictures overlap. Normal (15%) suits most rooms. To measure it, divide the width of the shared strip by the width of one picture.
Start with Normal. You can fine-tune it afterwards.
  1. Turn on: click Turn blending on. The picture now spans every projector as one wide image.
You can change anything afterwards.

Line it up with test patterns

Once blending is on, the Edge blend page offers test patterns to check the join on the real wall. Show one, look at the wall, adjust, and switch the pattern back to Off before the service.

Shape of the picture

  • Fill the wall stretches the picture over the whole wall. Nothing is cut off, but a normal slide looks wider.
  • Cut off the top and bottom keeps the picture's shape and fills the wall by trimming top and bottom.
  • Keep the shape keeps the picture's shape, with black bars at the sides.
The step says I don't have enough screens

Each spot needs its own screen. Go back and pick a smaller layout, or add more screens in Venue (see Add more screens), then return to Edge blend.

Can I save the blend for different rooms?

Yes. The Venues section of Edge blend saves the current setup under a name, so you can switch rooms without measuring again.

To see every screen where it hangs in the room, and to walk the room in 3D, open Map your room with Venue.
