Set up your screens
Tell ChristChant which projector or TV is your Main Screen and which is your Stage Screen, choose a resolution, and save the setup for each venue.
On this page
ChristChant drives each screen in your building on its own. The Main Screen is what the congregation sees. The Stage Screen faces the band and the speaker, with chords, the next line and cues. You decide which physical display each one goes to.
Pick a screen in Venue
Click Venue in the header. Your room opens as a plan, with every screen where it hangs. Click a screen, and its settings open on the right: Display (which projector or TV it goes to), Resolution, Mount (rotate or mirror it) and Open on startup.
For everything else, click Advanced settings under the screen's settings. On the left of the Screens window are your screens, each with a coloured dot: green means it's showing on a display, amber means it's switched on but has no display yet.
Choose the display for each screen
- In Venue, click the Main Screen on the plan, or select it on the left of the Screens window.
- Under Display (in Venue), or Physical display on the Screens window's Display tab, choose the display it should appear on.
- Pick the projector or TV that faces the congregation. In the Screens window your displays are drawn the way your computer arranges them, with their names and resolutions.
With Open automatically on startup on (the default), the screen opens on its display every time ChristChant starts. To open or close it right now, use the switch on the screen's card in Pipeline Flow.
Resolution
Native keeps the 1920×1080 design canvas that every built-in theme is made for, and suits most projectors and TVs. If your display is a different shape, such as an ultra-wide LED wall, choose its real resolution from the list or Enter a custom size…. Then give it a layout made for that shape: see Design a layout for every screen in your church.
Venue presets
Running services in more than one place? Under Venue presets on the Display tab, save the current resolution and scaling under a name, such as "Main building" or "Youth hall". Next time you're there, apply it in one click.
The Image tab
- Rotation turns the output for a TV mounted on its side.
- Picture (Main Screen) is set by its layout: Program only fits the slide, Program · Fill covers the screen, or choose a design. Open Layouts takes you there.
- Scaling (other screens): Fit adds bars, Fill crops, Stretch distorts to fill the display.
- Mirror horizontally or vertically for rear projection, or for a confidence monitor read through a reflector.
The Stage Screen
- Select Stage Screen and turn on Activate.
- Open the Display tab and click the display that faces the stage. You can also choose it from the Stage Screen card in Pipeline Flow.
What the band sees is set by its stage layout: Stage monitor layouts explains the options. The Stage Screen comes with Premium.
General settings
- Screen name is the name shown on the screen's tab and in Pipeline Flow.
- Open automatically on startup opens the screen on its display every time ChristChant starts. It needs a second display: with only your own screen connected, nothing opens.
- Remove screen deletes a screen you added. The Main and Stage screens are built in and can't be removed.
Nothing appears on the projector
Check that Windows is set to Extend, not Duplicate, then open Screens → Display and click the projector. If it isn't listed, use the refresh button next to the display picker. If the Main Screen's dot is amber, it hasn't got a display yet.
The output opened on my laptop instead of the projector
Open Screens → Display and click the projector in the picker. ChristChant remembers it, and with Open automatically on startup on, it opens there next time too.
Can I make two projectors look like one wide screen?
Yes: Edge blend, under Walls in the Screens window, joins two to four projectors into one picture. See Blend projectors into one big screen.
How do I add a lobby or overflow-room screen?
Open Pipeline Flow and use Add output. See Add more screens.
To see every screen where it hangs in the room, and to walk the room in 3D, open Map your room with Venue.
