ChristChant feels slow or choppy
How to find out whether the computer, a video file, or the number of outputs is the limit, and what to change.
On this page
A service is live, so a slow app is a real problem. Here is how to find the cause quickly.
Start with the setup
The number of simultaneous outputs and whether you stream are what push the requirements up. Compare your computer with the right row in System requirements for Windows and macOS.
Quick wins
- Close other programs, especially web browsers and chat apps.
- Plug the computer into power and set it to a performance power mode. Laptops on battery slow themselves down.
- Keep your media on an SSD.
- Use a wired network for NDI or streaming.
- Keep graphics drivers current. On Windows, install them from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel; on a Mac, update macOS.
Find the heavy part
- Open All Screens to see every output. If one tile is much slower than the others, that output is the heavy one.
- Turn off outputs you do not need for this service, such as an extra lobby screen.
- Switch video backgrounds to a still image on one screen to see if that is the cause.
- Turn off effects and animations for a test.
Then send us a report with diagnostic logs and we will look at it with you.
