Pairing needs the phone and the booth computer to reach each other. When it fails, the cause is almost always the network. Work through these checks in order.

1. Are they on the same network?

  • The phone and the computer must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Guest Wi-Fi often isolates devices from each other. Even when both are online, they cannot see each other. Use the main network, or the hotspot below.
  • Turn off mobile data on the phone while pairing, and turn off any VPN.

2. Did you approve the device?

After the phone scans the QR code or enters the PIN, the desktop shows a prompt asking you to approve the device. Until you approve it, the phone stays on "connecting". Look at the booth screen. If you blocked the phone earlier, open Remote and unblock it under Blocked devices.

  1. Click Remote in the header, then Generate new session for a fresh QR code and PIN.
  2. On the phone, open Desktop Monitor and tap Scan to connect, or enter the 6-digit PIN.
  3. Approve the device on the desktop when the prompt appears.

3. Use the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot

When the building network will not cooperate, ChristChant can create its own. The phone joins it and the two talk directly, with no router.

  1. Open Settings, then Network (or Network & Streaming).
  2. Set a network name and a password of at least 8 characters.
  3. Turn on the hotspot, then join that network from the phone.

4. A firewall is in the way

The first time ChristChant asks for network access, allow it on private networks. If you chose Block, open your system firewall settings and allow ChristChant.

If it drops during the service

The desktop keeps presenting. The remote is a convenience, never a dependency. Pair again when you can, and keep a second way to advance slides, such as the keyboard shortcuts in Keyboard shortcuts and how to change them.
